Overview

Reports to Senior HR Director, or as assigned.

Job Purpose

The Senior HR Business Partner is responsible for providing support and customer service, partnering with HR leadership and Operations, applying their business knowledge and human resources expertise. The individual will play a key role in the success of the organization offering guidance on employee related issues, Workday processes, terminations, performance management and HR best practices while fostering positive relationships with all internal customers.

Responsibilities

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Provides administrative support to the Sr.HR Director and HR Director Operations and acts as backup on all related needs.
  • Supports the HR Directors by providing clients with HR related information on their staff/organization to facilitate management decisions
  • Support HR Directors with managing routine employee relations, performance issues, and HR Investigations in conjunction with line management as needed.
  • Counsels and educates on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns to identify appropriate resolution steps
  • In compliance with local regulations and company policies, coordinate and communicate leaves of absence with employees and managers
  • Assists in developing and implementing human resources plans, policies, procedures, and goals. Recommends improvements as appropriate.
  • Interacts with employees, supervisors, and HR team in which interaction requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, clearly communicate issues, collaboratively problem solve and exercise sound judgement.
  • Assist managers with accurately entering and timely processing of employee changes and information in Workday including but not limited to compensation, personal EE information, new hires, transfers, and terminations.
  • Generates manual offer letters on an as needed basis for assigned operations location.
  • Escalates any employee changes, employee concerns, or other HR employee related matters that requires input from HR Directors. Follows required approval process.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others, report workplace hazards, injuries, or illness immediately.

Qualifications

Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.

  • Minimum of 7 years HR generalist experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; PHR, SPHR preferred.
  • Must have high initiative, integrity, good judgement, strong work ethic, good communication and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service and dispute resolutions skills.
  • Good understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with professionalism.
  • Operates effectively along complex processes and manages process hand-offs efficiently.
  • Works comfortably under pressure, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong team player; thrives in a collaborative work environment.
  • Must have strong attention to detail skills
  • Ability to multitask, be resilient and persistent
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
  • Knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license with the ability to meet the MRC Global vehicle policy and the ability to travel as needed.

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status;
  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others; to understand and interpret safety instructions; and to respond to inquiries.
  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC Global guidelines & expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
