CNC Machinist/Programmer

Zenar is a privately owned, 3rd generation company located in Oak Creek, and looking for CNC Machinists with G code and M code programming experience to expand operations of the Hyundai Wia MA 295 machines in the afternoon (12 pm-8:30 pm). Starting pay is up to $27 per hour, training on 1st shift!

CNC Machinist/Programmer Duties/Responsibilities

  • Requires a broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures, including programming.
  • Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences. Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
  • Compute machine indexing and settings for specified dimensions and base reference points. Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, using knowledge of machine operation. The ability to read a micrometer and adjust programming to ensure quality control. Select machine tooling to be used, using knowledge of machine and production requirements.
  • Familiar with and understand program formats involving a combination of operations such as profile and contour milling, tapping, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, etc. to the capacity of the machine and control factor.
  • Activate machine start-up switches to grind, lap, hone, debar, shear, or cut workpieces, according to specifications.
  • Perform advanced setup operations and adjustments. Operate numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations.
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as cutting speeds.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma highly preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a CNC machine operator and programmer is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
