Diagnostic Radiology & Imaging, LLC (DRI Greensboro) - OUTPATIENT RADIOLOGY

  • NEW FACILITY LOCATION - Burlington, NC
  • Permanent Position - Non-exempt
  • 24 hours weekly with Benefits.

  • Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (8 am - 5 pm) Additional hours available at Greensboro facility locations.

Description

The RN in this position is responsible for providing direct patient care in the interventional radiology lab, including multiple modalities; CT, MRI, US, and X-ray as a fully functioning member of the multidisciplinary team, as well as providing high quality, cost-effective patient care in all areas of operations, through assessment, evaluation, and intervention/follow up. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, evaluating, and assisting patients while planning, implementing, and evaluating their status while in the care of their department. Major responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, administering conscious sedation, and assisting the team during procedures, as well as providing care for patients in recovery. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in critical care nursing, telemetry, and conscious sedation. The nurse is expected to deliver compassionate care while coordinating and assisting in the execution of radiology procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Facilitate the patient experience through greeting and escorting patients to treatment areas or exits, verifying the patient's identity, explaining procedures, providing pre-and post-procedure instructions, and screening patients prior to interventional procedures. Utilize AIDET Principles in all patient and provider encounters.

2. Coordinate patient treatment plan by providing pre-procedure instructions to patients, investigating contraindications prior to scheduling procedures and consulting with radiologists.

3. Perform computer operations including beginning and ending exams in EMR, retrieving results, reports and previous exams, retrieving and documenting labs, scanning and inputting data into the computer, operating standard office and medical equipment.

4. Perform environmental and safety procedures by cleaning and sterilizing exam rooms and workstations, maintaining supply levels, ordering supplies, adhering to infection control policies and protocols, following drug protocols for allergic reactions, administering first aid, maintaining emergency crash cart and documenting and accounting for all scheduled narcotic medications, maintaining and ordering laboratory supplies, and performing quality control tests on lab equipment.

5. Collects and analyzes patient significant other data. Completes and documents pre-procedural and ongoing assessment to include collaboration with patients, significant others and other health care providers. Implements a plan of care for each patient (utilizing clinical pathways where applicable) and individualizes to meet the age specific needs of patients/significant others. Identifies variances and makes adjustments in the plan of care based on evaluation of the plan and effectiveness of nursing interventions. Documents and updates the plan of care, nursing care, nursing interventions and patient response to care, and keeps healthcare team, patients and significant other informed. Contributes to the discharge plan by identifying homecare needs. Recognizes changes in patients conditions and revises the plan of care appropriately. Demonstrates advanced competencies and critical thinking skills in day to day practice. Identifies and implements educational needs for patients/significant others. Hemodynamic monitoring. Recognizes cardiac rhythms. Monitor/titrates vasoactive drips and sedative agents and analgesia. Possibility of circulating, retrieving supplies and scrub duties.

6. Demonstrates effective conflict resolution/negotiation skills. Promotes positive, supportive, and professional work environment free of disruptive behavior. Practices, in all professional relationships, with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and uniqueness of every individual. Follows Chain of Command for assistance with issues related to unresolved/problem-solving and/or conflict resolution. Provides, seeks and receives constructive feedback. Provides peer to peer feedback and seeks mediation as necessary. Promotes effective conflict resolution.

7. Establishes a caring and therapeutic nurse/healthcare team/patient/significant other relationships. Recognizes communication barriers, identifies resources and establishes plans to resolve barriers to communication. Demonstrates respect for diversity and cultural differences in patient/significant others related to age, ethnicity, gender, religion, socioeconomics, education, personality, or other unique variable. Formulate individualized plans to address individual needs related to diversity, cultural difference or other unique variables. Advocates for the patient/significant other. Demonstrates skillful responses to customer needs based on particular context of the situation.

8. Supervises other members of the team. Contributes to a supportive and healthy work environment. Holds self and others accountable for complying with policies, procedures and standards. Participates in learning needs assessments. Provides input into and supports the precepting and mentoring process. Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff, ensure completion of delegated tasks and provides feedback as needed. Demonstrates team spirit and collegiality. Supervises select personnel in performance/patient care.

9. Supports an environment of evidence based practice/research/quality improvement. Demonstrates knowledge of how to access reference documents containing policies, procedures, standards, and additional resources.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing Required; BSN (preferred)

Experience: 3 to 5 years' nursing experience required; adult critical care/emergency department experience required; conscious sedation experience required

Knowledge: Consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence and service recovery. Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.

Skills: Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Email and the ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System and PACS Systems. Use of medical equipment, testing and measuring devices and office equipment. Effective, professional, diplomatic communication skills are required. EPIC experience a plus.

Licensure/Certification: North Carolina Board Certified Registered Nurse, ACLS. - Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing

Physical requirements: Occasional lifting, pushing or pulling

Conditions of employment: ACLS Certification, COVID vaccination, compliance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
