Quality Control Technician

DESCRIPTION

Position Summary: Maintain quality standards by performing inspections, audits, testing, and documenting the outcome of all. Observes and verify production, quality activities, and procedure compliance. Assist in the continued improvement of the Quality, production, and safety system.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Safety and security of products
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to the production manager/supervisor
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; containing products for non-conformance
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; inputting data into a quality database
  • Monitors the measuring equipment for correct usage; re-training on correct use when necessary; notifies QA Manager of needed repairs
  • Assists supervisors with re-training of personnel on inspection tests and procedures
  • Conduct Audits of manufacturing and the facility
  • Conduct Inspections and testing on incoming materials
  • Participates in various continuous improvement activities
  • Report any potential food safety, or quality of food defense concerns to the Quality Management & Manufacturing Managers
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
  • Assists in the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications required:

  • Prior Inspection experience
  • Quality oriented - Attention to detail - Organized and thorough
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to be a team player
  • Ability to use caliper, micrometer and other test equipment
  • Basic computer knowledge is required
  • Experience in food packaging is a plus
  • Experience in film and or converting a plus
  • Perform all daily duties in a safe manner
  • Maintain Area cleanliness
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Hardworking, Hands on type person
  • Identify quality parts and non-conforming parts in accordance with company specifications
  • Utilize Proper containment and investigation of all MRB cases
  • Team player
  • Ability to manage projects and follow through with details
  • Willingness to learn as well as teach
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills (Communication and Teamwork)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Meet all company KPI's (key Performance Indicators)
  • Strict attention to detail, and very observant

Physical demands:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
