Position Title: Human Resources Generalist

Status: Full-Time Exempt

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Location: Quakertown, PA

Job Summary

Under the direct oversight of the Director of Human Resources, and working closely with organizational leadership, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing all daily functions of the Human Resources department with involvement in all personnel aspects and enforces organizational policies and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments for all employees.
  • Assists with recruitment and interviewing job applicants for open positions in collaboration with department managers/supervisors.
  • Works closely with the Director of Human Resources to respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and organizational leadership in reference to complex and/or sensitive matters.
  • Works closely with the Director of Human Resources and organizational leadership regarding all performance issues, terminations, and investigations.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Conducts orientation and manages the onboarding process for all new employees.
  • Manages all areas of interpersonal and disciplinary matters, working closely with the Director of Human Resources and the leadership team.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Works closely with the Director of Human Resources in reviewing and creating workplace policies.
  • Manages driver files and required drug and alcohol testing to ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Leads the Employee Engagement Committee and assists in all areas of employee recognition programs
  • Assists in benefits administration for all employees.
  • Assists all employees in completing forms and training when needed.
  • Manages employee leave (e.g., FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, etc.).
  • Provides payroll backup for the Accounting Department.
  • Assists in all areas involving contracted, temporary, and H-2A employees.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or related field, or comparable experience required
  • Minimum three years of human resources experience preferred
  • Proficient in computer use, and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Able to learn new programs and processes quickly as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

Travel Requirements

  •  Some travel may be required – up to 10%

Physical Demands

  • Normal corrective vision range, ability to see color and distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Frequently required to sit, walk, talk, hear, bend, reach, and stand.
  • This position may require heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
