In 1984, Mountain F. Enterprises, Inc. (MFE) was established in Lotus, California with a goal to provide customers with top-quality tree care. As a small residential tree service, it was not long before Mountain Firewood (original name) realized it was time to expand into the firewood business. Four years later, the business blossomed into a full spectrum vegetation management business that specialized in providing services to a variety of customers including federal, state, and local agencies, municipalities, utility companies, timber companies, small landowners, and fire safe councils.

In 2000, our business grew out of the residential tree service and firewood business to providing utility tree trimming and hazard tree removal services to the utility and commercial tree management industries. MFE is currently seeking an experienced Apprentice Mechanic for Northern California: 

Shop Mechanic Responsibilities

• 1-2 years of Mechanical Experience in either the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
• Diagnose vehicles and equipment based on observational and mechanical testing as well as information provided by the driver or operator.
• Diagnose and replace broken or defective parts.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles as requested.
• Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance.
• Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.
• Maintain an organized and neat work area.
• Complete full safety and operation of vehicles prior to being released.
• Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
• Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
• Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must pass drug test & physical for employment.
• Clean Background Check Mandatory.
• Must have valid United States driver’s license.
• Must be able to travel in the local Oroville/Chico/Redding area (may require over night stays for emergency needs outside of these areas).

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors/outdoors, in varying weather conditions. Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling while utilizing the repetitive use of either or both hands. In addition, must be able to lift 45-50 lbs at any given time. This position requires close contact with all Mountain F. Enterprises employees, consultants/contractors, and outside vendors.
