Machinist/Tool Maker
Pay: $20-$27 per hour depending on Experience
Hours: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm
Location: Barre
Job Description:
This position is primarily responsible for operating CNC machines, with the potential for cross-training in the other areas listed below. Qualified candidates will have 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and understand the basic principles of calibration, metrology, and other related production controls. Candidates must also be able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time, lift 50lbs, and follow safe work practices around CNC and manual machinery and other heavy work equipment. Experience with CNC machine operation and steel manufacturing is preferred. EOE
Work Processes
1. Turning (lathes) - Safety, set-up, operation, programming
2. Milling (milling centers) - Safety, set-up, operation, programming
3. Hand grinding - Safety, carbide and steel tool grinding, finish grinding, repairs, maintenance
4. Assembly
5. Welding – Safety, induction braze, torch welding
6. Hot material processing – Safety, induction heat treat, furnace temper, forging
7. Inspection – measurement, hardness testing, finishing, tool marking
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time
- Ability to follow safe work practices around CNC and manual machinery and other heavy work equipment
