Job Summary

Moss is a global company that is a pioneer in tensioned fabric structures, large format printing and display hardware serving exhibits, events, sports & retail markets. At Moss you will join a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated in partnering with our clients to create their vision.

The Carpenter position will be responsible for building frames and custom structures using a variety of materials, including wood, laminate, and steel. This position will require the use various techniques to create these commercial pieces. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Trim and verify dimensions before fastening and adhering components; sanding, staining, sealing and painting surfaces; and adding hardware.
  • Cut and shape selected wood by operating power saws, planers, sanders, routers, and nailers.
  • Build a wide variety of frames and/or structures with the aid of blueprints, specifications, and part calculations.
  • Interpret client requests and provide prototypes to approve prior to commencing work.
  • Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders. 
  • Ability to work at a fast pace under pressure
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams 
  • Assist in maintaining, cleaning, and organizing fabrication department
  • Comply with all personnel, departmental and safety policies
  • Read and understand work orders, tech drawings, cut sheets and written instructions

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience 

  • 1-3 years of experience or completion of apprenticeship with on the job education.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and joining techniques common to the carpentry trade. 
  • Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, miter saw and jigsaw. Attention to detail and maintaining a safe work environment is essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary to deliver the project on time
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to kneel, bend, sit, stand, walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Communication and Language Skills: Must write and speak English clearly.
