Job Description: Program Director
The Program Director is responsible for the overall management of a limited-term program for MOSA Certified Organic. Responsibilities include program timelines and management; coordination with and reporting to stakeholders; coordination and collaboration with 20 regional partners; oversight of program implementation; financial and administrative oversight, and reporting and evaluation of the program to the MOSA Executive Management Team, and the MOSA Board of Directors.

Management and Administration:
- Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of program activities.
- Ensures that the program is technically sound, in regulatory compliance, and consistent with program priorities.
- Provides oversight of program implementation including all timelines, activities, outputs, and outcomes related to program management and administration, including reporting, budget development and monitoring, financial transactions, execution of program plans, and program performance.
- Ensures the program produces the specified results and required standards of quality, and within the timeline and budget parameters.
- Conducts regular reviews to ensure accountability of all program activities as well as the accurate and timely reporting of financial deliverables and obligations.
Communication & Partner Relations:
- Acts as the primary project contact person and liaison, ensuring that the project is represented professionally with program partners and stakeholders.
- Coordinates organizational relationships with program partners and key MOSA staff related to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Works closely with MOSA Certification Staff, and USDA regulators to ensure regulatory compliance with USDA National Organic Standards.
- Promotes the program through advocacy, presentations, and active participation at state, regional and local conferences, trade shows, trainings, and other relevant events.
Technical Leadership:
- Advises on program management, organizational development, training, capacity building, and collaboration among partners and stakeholders.
- Establishes and manages a team with all the relevant skills and experience.
- Develops a detailed implementation plan in line with the agreed scope and resources.
- Oversees development of a monitoring and evaluation plan for the successive phases of the program to capture program performance and results.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Preferred advanced degree, but will consider experienced candidates with an undergraduate degree.
- Experience managing, designing, implementing, and evaluating multi-million dollar, multi-state programs.
- Demonstrated diplomatic, management, and communication skills to liaise, coordinate, and advocate with industry partners (public, private and non-profit), and key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to successfully implement complex deliverables for grants or similar multi-year programs.
- Proven ability to write technical reports and program documents, and deliver presentations.
- Strong understanding of the key players in the Midwest and National Organic and Sustainable Agriculture communities.
- Familiarity with The National Organic Standards.
- Basic understanding of organic farming practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate cross-culturally.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to spend long periods of time working on a computer
- Ability to travel regionally
Compensation: Salary: $60,000-$75,000 DOE plus a $12,000 Annual Benefit Stipend
