Morrison is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Chico, CA

Overview:

A leading and growing Northern California food processing operation seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and support company initiatives through strategic planning, analysis, and related recommendations; analysis of financial and other information to measure and forecast the results of operations and initiatives; internal and external reporting, and; key relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The CFO will oversee a staff and all accounting functions. The company is located a reasonable commute from Chico CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Financial Leadership: Align business and finance strategy to grow the business.
  2. Manage internal relationships: Supervise and direct accounting staff and manage payroll, A/P, A/R, cost analysis and reporting, general ledger and general ledger reconciliations.
  3. Manage external relationships: Liaison with outside advisors, maintain tax compliance, and assist with tax planning. Tax and estate planning knowledge and coordination. A liaison between the company and legal and tax advisors. Position for best tax situation for the organization. Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, identifying monetary resources and developing action plans.
  4. Contracts / Insurance / EE Benefits, etc.: Monitor contracts for contractual compliance and recording of activities.
  5. Accounting closes: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes on cash and accrual bases. Provides these reports to stakeholders (owners, bankers, auditors) with applicable variance analysis.
  6. Policies and Procedures: Design and maintain procedures and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure that transactions are executed in accordance with GAAP and company guidelines. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) throughout the company.
  7. Tools, systems, and modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to be used in day-to-day planning and decision-making, and produce accurate and timely reporting of financial performance metrics to department heads, the CEO/President, and Board of Directors.
  8. Budgeting/Forecasting: Drive annual corporate budget process and provide monthly reporting to approved operation plan. Provide reforecasts on quarterly basis or as needed should budget deviate from actuals materially. Develop financial and other information to forecast and measure results of operations and strategic initiatives. Develop relevant analysis for us by all departments.
  9. Reporting: Ensure accurate tracking and reporting to support cross-functional relationships, and positively impact corporate growth and profitability.
  10. Cash flow / banking: Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs and grower payments. Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions and loan arrangements.
  11. Teamwork: Engage members of senior leadership to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all financial, IT, and supply chain solutions positively support the organization’s evolving strategy. Strong inclination to spend time on production floor engaging with operations team and working to solve operational accounting issues.
  12. Role in strategy: Play a lead role in the strategic planning process, including detailed input on pricing, margin contributions, product planning, cash flow analysis/management, and financial strategies.
  13. Vision: Create a vision and direct the development/refinement of the organization’s information systems. 
  14. Liaison with all departments: Holds regular meetings with the company’s various departments and acts as liaison amongst the various departments. Example : Plant Controller and Operations, CFO and Sales/Marketing, etc.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  2. Seven or more years of relevant experience. 
  3. Leadership and credibility. Capable of generating a high degree of respect and trust and building relationships across the organization, with ownership, and outside stakeholders. Maintain positive outlook.
  4. Experience developing strategy, monitoring results, and coordinating management/executive team.
  5. Professional level written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and present information effectively.
  6. Agricultural or food processing experience strongly preferred. Experience with job costing and analysis.
  7. Experience developing, implementing, and overseeing accounting procedures and controls.
  8. Professional level Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word. 
  9. ERP experience. ERP implementation experience a plus. 

Compensation:

This position offers a competitive salary ($200k-250k) depending on experience and qualifications. In addition:
