Technical Support Specialist

Morningstar Corp. is looking for a Technical Support Specialist to work with our Technical Support team in our Jessup, MD Engineering Center. Duties are multifaceted and include hardware, software, communications, and testing support. This is a highly collaborative position which requires effective communication with customers, and our design, manufacturing, product management, and sales teams.

Responsibilities:

• Resolve customer technical support cases via phone, email, web, & chat submission
• Confirm warranty claims and process returned product
• Basic product failure evaluation
• Update website with Tech Tips and Short Docs
• Ongoing legacy product testing / New product testing

Required Skills:

• AA in electronics
• Troubleshooting product or systems remotely both written and verbally
• Basic computer/database skills
• Organizational skills and good decision-making skills
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbally
• Comfortable with small team environment

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with CRM Software Package (ie Salesforce.com)
• Ethernet Networking (TCP-IP Stack, Subnets, Port Forwards)
• SMTP / SNMP / HTTP
• IOS and Android Apps
