Summary

Morgan & Morgan is looking for an entry-level Accounts Payable Clerk who will collaborate with the CFO, corporate controller, regional controllers, and the finance team. This individual will perform various clerical and routine accounting tasks in support of an operating unit, to include posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to financial reporting system output, processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports. 

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for all areas relating to accounts payable including but not limited to the following:

• Cost Checks
• Closings
• Expense Vouchers
• Filing paperwork
• Inventories
• Coordination of supplies and another needs for the office
• Depositing money into the cost and trust account
• Cutting outstanding bill and lien checks out of the trust account
• Cutting proceed checks out of the trust account
• Other accounting administrative duties
• Responds to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems
• Assists in performance of various clerical duties
• Sorts documents; codes, logs, reviews for accuracy; matches supporting invoices to procurement documents; and verifies invoices for payment
• Prepares routine entries and posts financial transactions; reconciles entries and internal ledgers to financial reporting system reports
• Research processing problems, contacts departments and vendors to resolve problems and expedite payment and responds to inquiries by telephone or in writing; refers complex problems for solution
• Handles cash and cash related transactions, issues receipts, records and types money lists, and balances cash fund; enters cash transactions in ledgers and reconciles cash reports; prepares bank deposits
• Assists in preparation of financial statements such as billings, budgets, and cost reports
• May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred, but not required
• Candidate must have at least second year in an accounting program with strong accounting background
• Successful candidates will have advanced working knowledge of Excel
• Ability to work in a fun, fast-paced office environment
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and possess the ability to multitask
