Monterey Peninsula Surgery Centers is Hiring a LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE Near Monterey, CA

One of the leading outpatient Surgical Providers is hiring a Licensed Vocational Nurse (Preoperative/Postoperative) who can provide excellent patient care. The ideal person will also demonstrate professionalism, have excellent communication skills, and play a key role in our performance-improvement and safety-risk management programs.

Job Summary: Admits patient to perioperative setting, develops a plan of care for the patient based on assessment data, and implements admission care. Essential responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Communication:

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
  • Imparts important aspects of patient care to team members
  • Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner

Compliance Program:

  • Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted compliance program
  • Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures 

Performance-Improvement Program:

  • Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted performance-improvement program
  • Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists the RN and physician in providing pre- and postoperative care to the patient
  • Confirms preoperative testing/medical clearance is in patient's medical chart prior to procedure
  • Collaborates with RN in assessing the patient's physical and emotional status
  • Implements and documents preoperative regimen of care according to policy/procedure
  • Recognizes patient’s need for support, answers questions appropriately, and provides for privacy and confidentiality
  • Assists in the admission of patients to pre/postoperative area according to established guidelines
  • Implements appropriate nursing activities to provide safe and Individualized nursing care
  • Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care by documenting patient's responses to interventions
  • Assists in explaining the physician's postoperative instructions to patient’s family
  • Conveys ideas, concepts, and facts related to patient care in a logical, concise manner
  • Assists with discharge activities according to policies and procedures
  • Documents records and other forms accurately and according to policies and procedures
  • Applies technical and specialized skills relevant to pre/postoperative nursing
  • Performs nursing functions as supervised by an RN, under the LVN California scope of practice.
  • Administers prescribed medication and performs treatments according to the state’s definition of LVN practice

Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of at least 1 year LVN work experience
  • Must have current LVN California license, and IV Certification 
  • Current BLS certification
  • Ability to cover in all Center locations, including Salinas, as needed
  • Cooperative work attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, patients, visitors, and physicians
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities; proven ability to make decisions, and solve problems with strong ethical and moral character references
  • High-level written, and interpersonal communication skills
