Assistant Director of Finance

SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in identifying opportunities to increase revenue and maximize profitability of the hotel. Manage and direct the performance of the Finance staff, to include team member relations, meetings, disciplinary action, and special projects. Ensure staff is motivated and trained to adequately perform at the expected level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including the required reports
  • Perform all general ledger account reconciliations to include; bank statements, assets, liabilities, prepaid, and credit cards. Coordinate and review monthly financial statements for accuracy. Monitor coding of cash receipts.
  • Process bi-weekly variable pay.
  • File tax returns (Transient, Sales, Tourism) to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Responsible to coach management team to ensure revenue and profit goals are met. Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction/productivity by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure accurate recording in accordance with Montage’s established guidelines.
  • Effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the Finance department to execute finance and accounting responsibilities for the property.
  • Provide strong technical expertise and direction to support the development of the annual business plan, operating budget, forecasts, financial reports, capital expenditures, and profit and loss statements.
  • Work with department managers to maintain strong internal control throughout the property.
  • Provide various Ad-hoc financial reports to finance leaders and others as requested.
  • Maintain all Hotel licenses, Leases, and Service Contracts
  • Ensure FF&E accounts are to date and maintain the FF&E ledgers
  • This position may perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs that may be outside the scope of these normal duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school or equivalent education required; Four year related college bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proven track record with at least 3 years previous experience in Hotel Finance.
  • Must possess initiative and drive; have broad relevant financial knowledge with strong management and leadership skills.
  • Must have 3-5 years progressive experience with direct supervisory duties
  • Previous experience as Assistant Director of Finance in a luxury or upscale hotel.
  • Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software, including Opera, Great Plain, IBM Planning Analytics, BirchStreet, Microsoft Office, POS, Sales Force, and Labor Management System.
  • Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
