JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who will take ownership of one or more avionics subsystems to support ongoing development of Momentus’ orbital service vehicles. This person will regularly interact with other Engineering teams and senior leadership to communicate product needs, propose and implement hardware design changes, and participate in root cause investigations. This is a hands-on role that will require a self-starter who is looking to make an immediate impact as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design, production, integration and development of one or more avionics subsystems in one of the following areas: 
  • Power converters and power distribution systems
  • Flight compute, data handling, and payload interface systems
  • Radio communication systems
  • Propulsion control and telemetry systems
• Support functional testing and qualification (TVAC, vibe, thermal, radiation, EMC/EMI, etc.) testing of avionics subsystems
• Perform on-the-spot debugging of hardware, propose solutions, test and implement them
• Create and present development plans for avionics components
• Own the documentation of design changes in work instructions and redlined schematics

Basic Qualifications:

• BS/MS/MEng in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline
• 5-10 years of experience in electrical hardware/system design
• Familiar with digital, analog, and mixed signal circuit design
• Comfortable with through-hole and surface-mount soldering
• Experienced in design for manufacturing and assembly
• Familiar with communication buses including CAN, I2C, SPI, and UART
• Experience driving products from initial requirements to delivery of the product
• Knowledgeable in electrical component selection for aerospace/automotive applications

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer
• Experience with hardware design involving FPGAs
• Experience with circuit simulation software such as LTSpice
• Prior experience in space/aerospace or relevant industry

This is a full-time position in San Jose, California. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) is required
