Modern Manufacturing is looking for a Staff Accountant to join the Team at our manufacturing facility located in Eudora, KS. The Staff Accountant will collaborate across all departments, working with Sales, Manufacturing, Project Managers and the Engineering team. The Staff Accountant will also liaison with our office located in Winnipeg Canada and other other subsidiaries Stacy and Witbeck and Modern Railway Systems. This Staff Accountant will have the opportunity to advance their technical skills to support the growth of the Eudora location and progress their career as they grow within Modern Manufacturing. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Staff Accountant maintains financial records and reports, performs account reconciliations, assists with budget and close processes, conducts internal audits, and maintain accounts payable documentation.
• Staff Accountant will assist the controller as needed and respond to information requests from management and for audit purposes.
• Staff Accountant must maintain day to day accounting functions, assist with month end closing processes, and reconcile and confirm intercompany balances.
• Adhere to all SOX requirements to ensure full SOX compliance
• Review and post Payroll and related tax filings (through Payroll Service Provider)
• Maintain adequate and appropriate documentation within share database
• Perform daily Accounts Payable entry and perform check runs
• Work closely among departments to ensure accuracy and minimize inefficiency
• Work with Finance team to maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures
• Ensure timely Billing and monitor Accounts Receivable

Required Experience

• 2 Years of accounting experience in manufacturing environment
• Prior experience with ERP systems preferred

Required Skills

• Well developed verbal and written communication, collaboration, organization, and time management skills
• Can effectively analyze problems and identify solutions
• Ability to prioritize heavy work schedule, strong attention to detail, and proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Exposure to potential hazards, therefore, protective clothing and equipment required such as steel toe safety boots or shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection.
• This position will spend a percentage of time working in a shop environment where tools and other machinery are used.
