Job Title: Electrical Hardware Engineer II

Job Description: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for hardware designs from concept through production, including schematic design, PCB layout and routing, analysis, block diagrams, part selection, manufacturing, test, and qualification. As an Electrical Hardware Engineer, you will work closely within the program team to develop electronic motor control systems to support electromechanical control needs for deployable space systems.

Job Duties: 

  • Work with project technical lead to develop technical specifications for motor control systems based on system level requirements.
  • Upgrade existing embedded motor control systems as needed and design board for future projects.
    • Modify schematics as needed for new systems integration
    • Identify suitable replacements for unavailable/obsolete parts
    • Identify software revisions needed to support requirements
  • Generate engineering documentation including code repositories, schematics, and PCB Gerber files.
  • Specify system component requirements to ensure conformance with engineering design intent and performance specifications.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities and propose action plans.
  • Generate application-specific cable designs and supporting drawings as needed.
  • Maintain configuration control of embedded software code, electrical schematic designs,
  • Design both flex and round wire harnessing as needed. Show an ability to both make updates to existing designs and start new designs at the requirements gathering stage.
  • PCB layouts and BOMs using approved Product Lifecycle Management tools.
  • Coordinate with system design and development and integration and test teams to plan and complete assigned projects within deadlines.
  • Participate in system design reviews and recommend improvements.
  • Support integrating control modules into systems and support integration testing.
  • Provide support in system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Recommend design modifications to improve Choosing components and manufactures that reduce cost while maintaining quality and lead times
  • Confer with other project personnel to define assembly, test and operating procedures.
  • Investigate electronic system malfunctions or anomalies, identify root cause and corrective actions, and provide technical information to justify conclusions.
  • Assist with development, coordination and monitoring of all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, design and fabrication of tooling and fixturing, and review of functional test procedures and testing methods.
  • Contribute to design reviews and proposal content.

Skills and Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or ECE from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry or university research experience in power electronics design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting. More experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient with electronics design (EDA) tools such as Altium.
  • Adept at PCB layout for power circuits.
  • Familiar with software development for embedded applications with microcontrollers in C/C .
  • Experience with electronics simulation tools such as LTSPICE.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Familiar with space-industry standards for electronics, design factors of safety, and product verification is desired
  • Experience designing for harsh or mission critical environments a plus, including aerospace
  • Capable of performing appropriate engineering analyses.
  • Understanding of project management, including costs and schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications including technical writing and oral presentations.

Title:Electrical Hardware Engineer II
Position Type: Full Time, exempt
Pay Range: $88,000- $130,000
Location: Louisville, CO
