Position Summary

Mitutoyo America Corporation, leader in Metrology solutions, is looking for a Calibration Technician that is proficient with the use of optical comparator, surface tester, calibration tester, oscilloscopes, voltage testers, drill press, gage blocks, data entry terminals, and other small maintenance tools and lab equipment. If you are excited about calibration and ensuring precise measurement functions of small tools, then this is the position for you. This position is in our corporate office in Aurora, IL. What you’ll do?

  • Perform duties to repair, adjust, and calibrate customers’ precision measuring tools and instruments. Calibrate in accordance with national and international standards following written procedures in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting, bench repair, and calibration of, measuring instruments and tools. Perform calibrations in accordance with written procedures and applicable standards.
  • Perform calibration on check standards and other artifacts for inter-laboratory comparison & round robin as needed.
  • Maintain calibration of working masters used in the Service Department.
  • For calibrations, complete certification documentation for completed calibration work, and maintain copies for files.
  • Analyze tool repairs and perform estimates as needed. Setup inspection equipment, and perform inspections on required products, assuring the products meet the original manufacture’s standards.
  • Respond to customer inquiries for technical support, pricing, and service information over the phone, via fax and email.
  • Assist management with maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
  • Maintain tools, calibration equipment and maintain up-to-date calibration certifications for all standards and test equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: Calibration Lab and Repair Laboratory, where incumbent is exposed to cleaning chemicals (denatured alcohol). In the Repair Laboratory, this person may come into contact with things that include but are not limited to denatured alcohol and corrosive removal. At times, this person requires the use of personal protective equipment like masks and goggles.

Physical Demands: Must wear Personal Protective Equipment when in lab such as: booties, lab coat, and gloves. Occasionally move inside the offices to access file cabinets, office machinery, drill press, belt sanders, etc.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. 

Monday – Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

Travel: Less than 25% of travel with this position.

Education and Experience: High School Education or equivalent; additional specialized training. 1 to 3 years of experience.

Additional Eligibility Requirements: Use of optical comparator, surface tester, calibration tester, soldering iron, oscilloscopes, voltage testers, drill press, belt sanders, data entry terminals, gage blocks, and other small maintenance items, lab equipment, and reference standards.
