Summary We are looking for a dynamic subject manager expert to step into our Import / Export Manger position covering all of North American, including the US, Canada and Mexico.. To execute Foreign Trade Compliance activities to reduce exposure to Import and Export violations for the company. Primary focus will be Import and Export Logistics management. Job Responsibilities & Requirements Essential Functions: Serve as an import / export logistics expert liaison and resource for our manufacturing, distribution and procurement associates throughout the MiTek family Manage relationships with MiTek customs brokers and freight forwarders and maquiladoras in Mexico. Effectively provide import instructions and oversight when necessary Serve as the liaison between our international transportation providers and MiTek associates when needed Develop and maintain a central repository for North America brokerage agreements, POA’s and Continuous Bonds Maintain ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) accounts for all US imports, ACI (Advance Commercial Information) accounts for all Canadian imports. Manage Company’s US Government licenses applications and classification requests processes Collaborate with various business functions (including colleagues in Legal, Finance/Tax, HR, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales, Corporate Strategy) to understand business needs and potential import/export process gaps Maintain proper execution of global trade compliance policies and procedures that directly impact import / export logistics Execute Global Trade & Anti-Corruption Team-approved training of global SOPs, standard documentation, filing, reconciliations, and record keeping Understand and stay on top of company’s existing and future technologies/products to assist Global Trade & Anti-Corruption Team to ensure trade compliance issues are proactively addressed Assist Global Trade & Anti-Corruption Team in the development of a systematic end-to-end approach to classifying Company’s products and related software and technologies, including those with encryption capabilities, and ensure they are communicated and consistently applied Keep Global Trade & Anti-Corruption Compliance team apprised of company trading developments that may have a legal and regulatory impact Develop, track, and report appropriate Import / Export KPIs Maintain continuous training / coaching and records for site level logistics coordinators with input from the Global Trade & Anti-Corruption Compliance team. Demonstrate exemplary integrity and ethics in all instances Promote a business culture of trade compliance and ethics and conduct other compliance activities Skills & Abilities: Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Masters or Professional Degree preferred. Experience: 7 - 10 years of experience in import / export logistics in related industry preferred. Experience in dealing with storage/memory technologies, or related technologies, a plus A subject-matter expert in export and/or import compliance. Solid understanding of EAR (especially Categories 3 and 5) and export controls generally, OFAC economic and trade sanctions programs, TAA, CBP regulations, FTRs, classification (hardware and software) Comfort with communicating with U.S. government agencies especially BIS Project management skills necessary to lead projects and drive them to completion effectively and timely Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into simple statements and propose/develop practical business solutions Committed to growth mindset and continuous improvement Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively on legal and compliance issues verbally and in writing, in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to make good decisions based on sound judgement Ability to work independently with little supervision Ability to understand, learn, and use new technology and systems Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office and proficient skills in the Office Suite including Teams as well as ACE Other Requirements: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings. Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information, as well as professionally answer the office phone and transfer calls.
