Missouri State Employees' Retirement System is Hiring a Benefit Specialist Near Jefferson, MO

What You’ll Do

The individual in this position will provide technical support to the Benefits Administration section. Responsibilities include:

  • Answering calls and emails from our members regarding website assistance, completion of forms, years of service, retirement benefit amounts, COLAs, etc.
  • Reviews and processes retirement forms and proof documents
  • Verifying survivor eligibility, collecting acceptable proof documents, processing survivor applications and preparing them for verification
  • Communicating with state agencies regarding forms, eligibility, and service through phone calls, emails and other written correspondence
  • Preparing final benefit calculation letters for monthly retirement inceptions
  • Data entry, including updating member records in our pension administration system

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy 
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Competent writer who pays close attention to detail
  • Reliability and dedication to the task at hand and strive to exceed expectations
  • Reliability with a team mentality 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Bachelor's degree
    • Or high school diploma plus two years of related experience
