Missouri Girls Town is Hiring a Night Youth Worker Near Kingdom City, MO

Summary 

The Night Youth Worker provides support to Missouri Girls Town by overseeing the house and ensuring the safety of the clients during the set sleeping hours. The work involves regular housekeeping, food preparation, deep cleaning of the house, security, and other services as needed. The Night Youth Worker provides an invaluable service to both the clients and the employees of Missouri Girls Town.

This position demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values of the agency by engaging in respectful, cooperative and healthy relationships with clients, coworkers and external stakeholders; being accountable for providing services and ensuring safety to clients with empowering clients in achieving the agency’s mission. 

The Youth Worker will be supervised by the Lead Youth Worker.

Duties

The Night Youth Worker is responsible for providing direct care by observing, assessing, and reporting on the client’s feelings and behavior. In addition, he/she is responsible for assisting in implementing the decided upon treatment plan. These responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  1. To remain awake and alert during entire shift 
  1. Provide regular bed checks and documentation of those observations on designated forms. Level IV clients are to be checked every 15 minutes and Level III clients are to be checked every 30 minutes regardless of the house they reside. In certain circumstances the time between bed checks maybe reduced even further.
  1. Provide as needed client documentation using designated forms.
  1. Administer medications as needed
  1. Providing transportation as needed
  1. Reading house communication log at the beginning of each shift and adding any needed required information.
  1. Ensure all documentation is completed before leaving each shift worked. (CIR’s, summaries, etc.)
  1. Perform regular duties essential for the protection and security of the clients and staff. (Emergency Response Drills, etc.)
  1. On school days or when necessary, assist with the awakening of clients, helping them prepare for school and the preparation of breakfast. 
  1. Performing regular checks throughout the house for areas not normally cleaned or serviced that may need maintenance or thorough cleaning.
  1. Complete housekeeping chores as designated in the end of shift checklist.
  1. Attend training required to meet contract requirements.
  1. Maintain adequate staff coverage for the safety of clients and personnel by completing scheduled and assigned on call rotation coverage
  1. Additional duties will be assigned by Lead Youth Workers, Human Resources and the Associate or Executive Director. (House checklists, etc.)

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum Age of 21 Years.
  1. High School Diploma or GED is required. Completion of at least 60 hours of college  training with major course work in the social sciences is desirable.
  1. Class E Drivers License (Must be obtained before the end of probationary period.)
  1. Ability to pass a Family Care Safety Registry screening and no criminal records which reflect felony convictions of a history of abuse.
  1. Ability to lift ten pounds.
  1. Handle with Care Certified. An emphasis on verbal de-escalation is mandatory, but the  ability to perform the physical restraints as the last option in order to keep clients safe  from themselves or others is essential. (Must be obtained before the end of  probationary period.)
  1. CPR and First Aid Certification (Must be obtained before the end of probationary  period).
  1. Ability to demonstrate caring, tolerance, and patience when dealing with troubled  youth.
  1. Ability to demonstrate understanding of philosophy, policies and procedures,  strategies and programs of Missouri Girls Town.
  1. Ability to work and communicate effectively with both staff and clients.
  1. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all clients.
  1. Ability to be on time and dependable.
  1. Ability to work scheduled on call rotation.
  1. Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  1. Ability to adapt to change and crisis

The ability to complete and become certified in Handle with Care, verbal de-escalation and the ability to perform physical restraints, which aligns to the organization’s Behavior Support Management Policy is a requirement of employment. The consequences of not being able to become fully certified may be termination or consideration of another open position. The consequence will be at the discretion of the employer. 

Environmental/Working Conditions

Ability to work with awake clients and to monitor sleeping clients. Hours outside normal business hours are required.Compensation for work outside normal work schedule will be given when authorized when approved by the Lead Youth Worker and one of the following:

  1. Human Resources
  1. Associate Executive Director
  1. Executive Director
