Milwaukee Brewers is Hiring a Director – Digital Experience Near Milwaukee, WI

Job Description

The Director, Digital Experience is responsible for developing and executing a strategic integration of Brewers brand content across all our digital channels with creativity and innovation. This position will play a major role in enhancing the Brewers brand presence within the social space, as well as driving website traffic and mobile app utilization via successful implementation and management of digital platform strategies and content marketing programs. These efforts will promote our brand and engage our fans, ultimately growing and expanding our fanbase to drive sales across the business.

The Director, Digital Experience will work closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and the MBBC Marketing creative team to develop compelling social content and content marketing programs to drive audience growth. This role will also collaborate with Major League Baseball and with internal partners (including Business Analytics, Ticket Sales, Corporate Partnerships and Information Technology) to deliver, measure and optimize all digital platforms, including social media, web, email and mobile apps.

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director, Marketing to develop content plans and cross-platform strategies for the website, email, blog, podcast, app and more to drive traffic and engagement that translates to brand promotion and sales.
  • Lead and direct the implementation of digital strategies and content plans for Brewers social media, website experience and content, email marketing, mobile app, and SMS marketing.
  • Become an expert in the MLB and MBBC digital ecosystem, understanding objectives at the league level and within MBBC, utilizing knowledge, resources, and tools to maximize efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging technology platforms; provide perspective for adoption where appropriate.
  • Drive innovation for Brewers digital platforms to grow our audience and increase fan engagement via a fan-centric digital experience with compelling content across MBBC digital touchpoints.
  • Set standards for Brewers social media to ensure the brand voice and image are compelling and calibrated to the platform and the audience.
  • Ensure creation and execution of social and digital content marketing programs address the organization’s overall goals for audience growth, fan engagement, sales, events, retail and other club initiatives.
  • Work with MLB to optimize fan interaction, usability and growth on all digital platforms – email marketing, website, Ballpark App – in service of MBBC priorities.
  • Engage in research efforts with MBBC’s Business Strategy and Analytics team to identify effective digital platforms and opportunities to increase Brewers brand relevance to reach emerging youth and culturally diverse audiences targeted for growth.
  • Partner with MBBC content and creative cohorts to brainstorm new and creative content programs to grow audiences and engagement for social, blog, podcast, YouTube, and beyond.
  • Communicate with players regarding content marketing efforts to increase player participation; provide social media guidance, as needed.
  • Serve as a backup for the Manager, Digital Content, providing social coverage (photography, caption writing, posting, community management, etc.) for games when necessary or requested by the Senior Director, Marketing. This may include Spring Training and Postseason.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Highly creative with experience in identifying audience needs and devising a digital experience that engages, informs and motivates
  • Ability to analyze data to extract insight from reporting tools, with a willingness to be innovative, test new ideas and programs
  • Proven success leading and managing content planning, social media, SEO/SEM, website management, email and/or SMS campaigns
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
  • Experience in optimizing digital touchpoints and user funnels
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results through collaboration and build consensus among stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Adaptability and ability to see the audience perspective, e.g. Brewers fan, is essential; Understanding of diversity and multicultural audiences is preferred

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in field of digital marketing required.

Computer Skills  

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)
  • Solid knowledge of social platform algorithms to optimize organic content and paid media
  • Working knowledge of ad serving tools (e.g., DART, Atlas)
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, partners, sales teams, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work Hours

Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours will be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays.
