Milhouse Engineering Construction is Hiring a Civil Engineer I-II (Transportation) Near Chicago, IL

We are seeking a Civil Engineer I-II to join our Transportation team in our downtown Chicago office!

This position offers YOU the opportunity for growth and development in Civil engineering devoted to Transportation design. You will learn about many different components that go into developing plans from Phase I to Phase II designs.

In summary you will work with a variety of team members from designers to project engineers to project managers and senior leadership as you strive to deliver quality projects in a timely fashion. In turn, you will gain more and more exposure to clients and learn how to manage your own projects as you hone your skills with us!

What you will do:

  • Perform engineering design to client and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare project documents plans and reports utilizing CADD
  • Data entry into various platforms
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Perform calculations and analysis
  • Prepare design calculations using appropriate tools and/or software
  • Prepare cost estimates and analyze material costs
  • Design of improvements regarding geometric and roadside appurtenances
  • Drainage design and layout
  • Maintenance of traffic (MOT) design and layout
  • Signing & pavement marking
  • Utility coordination
  • Quantities, calculations, specifications, and exhibits
What we are looking for:
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experienced with 3D Modeling
  • Roadway design experience
  • Proven design experience with IDOT, Illinois tollway, Open roads and Traffic signals
Education and Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Civil Engineer dedicated to transportation
  • EIT / FE or ability to obtain certification quickly
  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Experience with IDOT, CCDOTH, CDOT, Illinois Tollway is preferred.
  • Experience in Corridor modeling is preferred
  • Experience with Bluebeam is preferred
  • Experience in ORD is preferred
