Ultrasound Technologist Position Summary:

This position performs general diagnostic ultrasound testing such as Abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts examinations as well as peripheral and abdominal vascular exams. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating findings of diagnostic examinations using sonography as appropriate. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound lab, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to pursue lifelong learning to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

A Day in the Life of a Radiologic Technologist at MyMichigan Health:

  • (60%)* Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations according to defined imaging protocols.
  • (20%)* Provides ultrasound guidance for biopsies/aspirations.
  • (20%)* Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the ultrasound technologist’s care.

Requirements We Are Looking For:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Ultrasound Technology or related healthcare field.
  • ARDMS registry or registry eligible required

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinically relevant information to assist physicians with diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Provides diagnostic medical sonography services and its various clinical specialties (breast, OB, etc.).
  • Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
