Microsoft is Hiring a Principal Product Manager Lead Near Redmond, WA

Azure's Kubernetes Services team is responsible for two services - Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) - which aim make enterprises successful at building, deploying, and managing cloud native applications. It is also broadly responsible for driving Azure's overall Kubernetes strategy, in conjunction with numerous partners across the company.
We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead our Ecosystem and Growth team. In this role, you will lead a team of product managers who are responsible for the ARO product, in partnership with Red Hat, for cultivating a 1 st and 3 rd party ecosystem around AKS/ARO, including integration of Kubernetes-based experiences in other Azure products and enabling ISVs and SIs to deliver products and services on the platform, and for driving attach from AKS/ARO to related Azure products, such as our managed database offerings.
In this role, you will be required to influence key internal and external partner teams to align with our strategy, so the ideal candidate will have experience working across a diverse set of stakeholders to define and deliver joint successes. You will also be expected to periodically present to business and technical executives on a variety of topics, so polished communication skills are important. Finally, since the role will involve significant interaction with the cloud native community, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record working with containers, Kubernetes, and the CNCF ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 5-8 product managers to build the Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) service, enable 1 st and 3 rd partners on AKS, and drive deeper attachment from AKS to related Azure products and services.
- Define Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the team, aligned with key partners, to ensure focused investment and execution.
- Develop scalable strategies for enabling 1 st party and 3 rd party partners to deliver high quality experiences on AKS/ARO.
- Build product experiences and go-to-market approaches that make it seamless and attractive for customers to combine AKS/ARO with other Azure products into holistic solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8 years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- 4 years people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10 years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- 6 years people management experience.
- 2 years of experience with cloud native technologies, ideally Kubernetes.
- 5 years of experience working with customers in a product management, technical sales, or product marketing capacity.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Product Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role. U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and wellbeing benefits, among others. Additionally, hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid vacation time, and salaried/exempt employees have Discretionary Time Off (DTO).
