Job Description 

A Senior Systems Engineer job in Tacoma, WA, or Gratz, PA, is available at Milgard Windows and Doors/MI Windows. You are responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of hardware, software, and related infrastructure. You will also participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. In addition, you will ensure that system hardware, operating structure, software, and related infrastructure are continually up and running and that system-wide backups and monitoring are accurate and complete.

Senior Systems Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Maintacnece life cycle.
• Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Provide restores from backups when requested.
• Proactively check backup health and completeness.
• Proactively monitor and respond to system-wide health. 
• Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer structures.
• Recommend changes to improve structures and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
• Respond to system outages.
• Install and configure new hardware and software.
• Responsible for documenting the configuration of the system.
• Troubleshoot problems, both hardware and software.
• Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
• Perform routine audits of classifications and software. 
• Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.

Requirements

• 7 years experience as a Server System Administrator in Windows, Unix, and Linux.
• 5 years of networking experience, including firewalls, switches, and routers.
• Experience with DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
• Experience managing MS Internet Information Server (IIS).
• Experience with MS SQL, Oracle, or MySQL is desired.
• Experience with Cisco networking equipment. 
• Experience with Cisco Phone Structures is a big plus.
• Experience with NetApp Storage preferred.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation. 
• Strong interpersonal skills.
