Overview

The Server Administrator Intern will learn directly from Information Technology Department professionals, lending assistance to the server and infrastructure teams day-to-day responsibilities. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with company-wide PCs, handhelds, Windows Servers, and Active Directory. The Intern also will assist with IT projects, troubleshooting, provisioning new servers on VMWare, and actively work on AD components as needed.MFA Oil Company is an Equal Opportunity/Drug-Free Employer.

Responsibilities

• Research technology solutions and problems as assigned, and report findings
• Work with members of the IT team to perform one or more of the following:
  • Implement new systems as needed and approved
  • Administer the VMWare ESXi/vSphere/vCops server infrastructure, including any host systems or physical servers/chassis
  • Provide administration of any/all server and workstation systems, including backups, updates, database, internet server, scripting, FTP, and email systems as needed
  • Assist in decommission of End-of-Life server systems as needed
  • Provide remote administration, implementation, and management of all distributed systems in a large geographic footprint
• Travel to remote sites or training as needed, including overnight, not to exceed 25% travel
• Helpdesk support and Tier II break/fix support as needed
• Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked
• Participate in and contribute to MFA Oil’s formalized internship program

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A current student or May 2023 graduate, majoring in an IT related field
• Basic knowledge of networking systems
• Ability to accept and embrace accountability and be comfortable working in a strong team
• Ability to understand the need for change management and a structured system for technological implementations and management
• A valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel to remote sites or training as needed, including overnight, not to exceed 25% travel
• Ability to lift, reach, stoop and or bend to retrieve equipment and supplies weighing up to 50lbs.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
• Ability to meet Company requirements, including successful background and MVR check, and drug test
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
