Job Functions:

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for overseeing billing operations and processes, managing incoming payments to ensure collection of account balances, and reviewing account discrepancies. This role requires a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will assume responsibility for duties assigned in the finance and administrative functions. This position requires the ability to be flexible with priorities and to function in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Generate and send out invoices.
2. Continuous evaluation of current policies and recommendations for process improvements.
3. Review AR Aging Report monthly.
4. Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities.
5. Manage collection efforts and associated functions.
6. Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
7. Perform daily cash management duties, including preparing bank deposits and the recording of cash receipts to the accounting system.
8. Research and resolve account discrepancies.
9. Investigate and resolve customer queries.
10. Process adjustments.
11. Maintain customer records in accounting system.
12. Maintain all cash receipts workbooks.
13. Reconcile cash receipts with Recap workbook daily.
14. Complete Accounts Receivable month-end tasks by 3rd business day.
15. Review monthly metrics to ensure Accounts Receivable KPI goals are met.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
17. Maintain daily working relationships with all departments of the company.
18. Participate in the development of and meet team goals, and actively contribute to the achievement of team and organizational SMART goals in alignment with the organizational strategic plan. 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field a plus. 1-3 years’ experience preferred. Not-for-profit accounting experience preferred. Experienced in Fund Accounting a plus. 

Skill Requirements:

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Excellent computer skills, with strong proficiency in Excel and other Office Suite. Strong understanding of reporting and financial systems. Detail-oriented with excellent prioritization and organizational skills. Able to effectively multitask and shift priorities as needed. Ability to work independently. Works well under pressure and meets deadlines. 

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Other:
