The Assistant Controller Role

Metropolis is looking for an Assistant Controller to work under the direction of the Controller. The position will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting tasks, month-end close, and financial reporting. This team member will also assist in the year-end close process, the annual audit, and other projects as needed. This will be a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, and treasury
• Produce accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis
• Build and retain a high-performing accounting team
• Maintain adequate records for annual audit and tax returns
• Research and implement new accounting standards in compliance with GAAP
• Coordinate year end audit and compliance activities
• Develop and monitor policies and procedures consistent with a strong internal control environment
• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

• 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Active CPA license
• Experience leading a team and driving performance with emphasis on continuous improvement
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
• Ability to manage time for multiple tasks to meet established deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience at a high growth company strongly preferred
