Permit Specialist

As a Permit Specialist you are responsible for coordinating everything that is needed for us to obtain permit and pole applications so that we can build out our fiber network. This means working with internal Metronet stakeholders to make sure that we have everything that is needed when submitting permits so that we are in alignment with all applicable Federal, State and Local rules and regulations. It also means working with external stakeholders, answering questions that they might have or getting them any additional information needed, during the permit approval process. This means that a high level of organization, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills are needed to excel in this fast-paced.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate with Engineering to understand what permits need to be submitted and to what governing authority.
  • Coordinate with CAD Tech to prioritize permits needing drawn up.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to understand what poles to submit and to what pole company to submit to.
  • Submit Pole Attachment Request Applications
  • Will actively track process with the different pole providers.
  • Will keep track of all upcoming, submitted and completed pole applications and permit applications
  • Create and submit construction drawing packages.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • 2 years' experience in permit process/project management required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all departments and all levels of management
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Solid basic math skills
  • Proficient in standard office software, including MS office and spreadsheets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
