Job Description:

Metas Solutions has an "immediate opening" for an experienced Training Specialist to work remote with the possibility of working onsite in Atlanta, GA at some point in the future. In this role you will provide skills, service, and expertise that support CDC's national efforts to promote health, prevent disease, injury and disability and prepare for emerging health threats. The focus will be to design, develop, and maintain technical materials used in case notification and implementation. (Materials include documents, trainings, and educational resources for the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) Technical Resource Center website.) The Training Specialist will implement a strategy for ensuring all jurisdictions and CDC programs are aware of the Resource Center, its offerings, and plan to evaluate the utility of tools and resources posted on the website. This role will also perform relevant projects as assigned under minimum supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess training needs and review current training plans to inform future training activities and development of a comprehensive training plan that supports the NNDSS Technical Resource Center.
  • Develop a comprehensive training plan to develop, clear, and maintain case notification implementation support documents, training materials, and other offerings posted in the Technical Resource Center. This collaborative effort will include several key stakeholders and three NMI partners (CDC, Association of Public Health Laboratories [APHL], and Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists [CSTE]). The plan shall include a work plan with clear goals, objectives, activities, and timeline; recommendations; and cost-effective approaches tailored to user needs. The plan shall include web-based and conventional instructor-led training.
  • Review and discuss case notification implementation, support documents, and trainings with key stakeholders to inform development of future informatics and surveillance trainings. Revise documents for review and discussion with DHIS leadership. Update documents to incorporate feedback. Revise and maintain documents, trainings, and resources as needed.
  • Develop a coordinating strategy among the three NNDSS partners and key stakeholders to disseminate information about the resource center so that all jurisdictions are aware of the available technical case notification implementation support documents and training resources.
  • Develop a comprehensive dissemination plan that contains goals, objectives, and activities. Review and discuss the plan with key stakeholders and DHIS communications staff. Revise the document for review and discussion with NNDSS leadership. Revise, update, and maintain the document.
  • Review, clear, and post case notification implementation support documents, trainings, and other educational materials and content to the NNDSS and other applicable websites of CSELS/DHIS. (Detailed tasks may include: adding new or revising existing trainings and materials; discussing modifications with key stakeholders; and revising, pre-clearing, and clearing documents for posting on the website.) Work with web developer to post documents. Also including Revise and maintain documents.
  • Develop, modify, or update case notification implementation and support documents, trainings, or materials that describe the development, implementation, and onboarding of Healthcare Level 7 (HL7) case notification messages to CDC. This will require documenting a gap analysis of informatics and health information system training materials and CDC-recommended HL7 Message Mapping Guide (MMG); track submittals and changes to process and procedures before the web developer posts content/MMGs. Revise and maintain documents.
  • Coordinate a meeting for reviews of training materials and resources among key stakeholders, authors, reviewers, and CSELS/DHIS senior staff
  • Develop status reports due once a month and delivered by email to COR/Project Officer (PO) and designee.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year accredited university with Technical Writing, Training, or MIS courses, with 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within a federal agency, public health organization, or state-based public health program
  • Familiarity with several training mediums such as eLearning and various training documentation including user manuals, FAQs etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook; Documentation Management; and other technologies such as Zoom or Webex Conferences)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • CDC or Public Health experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with MS SharePoint is a preferred
  • Microsoft Office and SharePoint experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be US Citizen or with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance (Public Trust 5) within a reasonable period.
