Job Description and Responsibilities

General Summary:

Plant engineering manager will oversee and participate in product realization process. Will work closely with all departments in scrap reduction, molding, and finishing to ensure continuous improvement and conformity to customer requirements.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilize manpower and equipment to maximize productivity while ensuring quality standards are maintained.
• Development, improvement and maintenance of process tooling and associated equipment.
• Investigate and assist in corrective/preventative actions for reported concerns.
• Establish and maintain customer files, including engineering standards, blueprints and other associated materials and information.
• Participate in contract review and quoting procedure.
• Perform job in accordance with all established procedures and work instruction.
• Oversee and coordinate all tooling requirements per customer specifications. Has the authority to remove any tooling from production should a quality problem occur.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

• Ability to supervise and direct process engineer.
• Proficient in understanding of design and simulation software.
• Knowledge of foundry and/or machining processes including related tooling.
• Ability to problem solve effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Strong planning skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to operate in a team environment and lead continuous improvement efforts.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Working Conditions

• The Plant Engineering Manager will reside in the office and on the production floor. Must be able to adhere to conditions of the plant.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time on their feet 50% on the production floor.
• Must be able to move about inside the office and in the plant.
• This position will operate a computer and other machinery in the plant.
• Must be able to frequently communicate with employees and other individuals in person and telephone.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BS Degree in engineering or related field and at least 5 years professional engineering experience.
• 5 years design experience with related software.
• Project management and supervision experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods: production/cell development, company and competitor products, and supplier capability.
• At least 3 years’ experience designing foundry tooling and optimizing tooling to relevant foundry process.
