Merrow is Hiring a Payroll/Accounts Receivable Specialist Near Westport, MA

Merrow is looking to hire a motivated Payroll/AR Specialist to support the divisions of Merrow. As a Payroll/AR Specialist, you will be responsible for accounts receivable and full cycle processing of weekly payroll of 100 employees. The position is located at our headquarters in Fall River, MA.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Receivable Duties:

  • Prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable
  • Process customer payments from daily bank downloads and checks received
  • Create invoices according to company practices for several different Divisions within the company; submit invoices to customers via email or upload to customer portal including payment vouchers when required
  • Draft correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identify delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contact delinquent accountholders to request payment
  • Research customer discrepancies and past-due amounts
  • Assist with annual audits
  • Other duties as assigned

Payroll Associate Duties:

  • Prepare and process payroll from start to finish on a weekly basis
  • Review and verify data and input into the payroll system
  • Follow all processing procedures, adhere to policies, and maintain confidentiality
  • Perform basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle
  • Setup and monitor garnishments, tax levies and child support orders
  • Update employee records and process routine changes
  • Respond to pay related inquiries from staff. Research and resolve errors or omissions
  • Maintain employee PTO balances
  • Maintain state information including updates, additions and closures
  • Verification of Quarterly filings and Year End W-2 reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of bookkeeping/payroll experience
  • Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software
  • Experience using HRIS

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to protect confidential information
  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Curious and willing to learn, adaptable in a changing environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Interact regularly and follow up with internal and external parties based on direction of management, presents information for decision making to manager, and requires ability to independently manage their own daily tasks and projects as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will not supervise employees.
