Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our team working with our natural gas industry clients. The successful candidate will work with senior engineers, project managers, and other team members to support preparation of plans/specifications; conduct permit review, feasibility investigations, and report and study preparation; perform construction administration; and complete other design documentation development for client projects. This position will focus primarily on the natural gas industry, but project work may also include working with other energy and project sectors such as electric transmission, transportation, wind, and solar.

Flexible/hybrid work arrangements are available for professionals who can work successfully in a remote work environment. The anticipated salary for this position is between $102,000-$133,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

responsibilities

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Create civil-related designs for natural gas pipelines and facilities.
• Assist senior engineers and project managers with the design and analysis of a variety of projects in the natural gas industry, including civil engineering requests.
• Prepare design documents and technical reports to assist in the requested scope of work and associated budgets for engineering services.
• Prepare technical documents for senior engineer and project management review and provide revisions based upon feedback.
• Assist with the development of proposals, quotes, and scopes for clients' projects and needs.
• Attend project meetings and interact with clients and regulatory agencies.
• Adhere to project schedules and budgets based on client needs.

qualifications and experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-5 years of progressive experience working within the field of engineering
• Previous experience working with energy clients is a plus.
• Previous experience working with a professional services consulting company is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; however, junior engineers with an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification and adequate expertise will also be considered.
• Previous experience or training with CAD software and GIS (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcMap).
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write descriptive and technically accurate specifications and reports.
