Merced Lao Family Community, Inc. (MLFC) is a non-profit organization in Merced, CA. MLFC has been supporting and empowering local community members since 1981. We strive to be the bridge between individuals, families, and the community with the goal of promoting a better quality of life for the Southeast Asian community and all residents in the Merced area.
We are looking for a Part-Time Youth Outreach Counselor to join our team and help us reach out to the youth in Merced County. The Youth Outreach Counselor will assist the Youth Program Coordinator under the Merced Youth Leadership Development Program (MYLDP) at Merced Lao Family Community, Inc. (MLFC). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage with members of the community, provide support and resources, and advocate for social change. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. The goal of this position is to help elevate youth in the prevention and intervention of mental stressors and drug use and to inspire the next generation youth group with leadership skills and become more effective leaders.
The Youth Outreach Counselor is responsible for implementing recruitment and outreach strategies for Asian youth in Merced County. This position assists the Youth Program Manager and Coordinator to fulfill the program's goals related to youth leadership, competency, and development.

Responsibilities:
- Provide outreach, support, and counseling to youth and their families.
- Assists the Youth Program Manager with the 13-youth development and engagement program activities that enhance and support youth education and mental development.
- Prepare credible information and facts on youth substance use disorders and mental stress.
- Advocate for youth leadership.
- Provide outreach, support, and counseling to youth and their families.
- Provide guidance and support to youth in need.
- Assist with the development of curriculum and lesson plans.
- Attend mandatory monthly staff meetings and Merced County Behavioral Health meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or the Program Director
- Maintain accurate and timely required documentation, records, and reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual reports), as outlined by agency policies and procedures, to the Executive Director/Program Director
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (preferred).
- Outreach and work with the Asian community.
- Bilingual in Hmong and English (preferred).
- Display proficiency in social media and content creation.
- Possess strong leadership skills.
- Exhibit a professional attitude and appearance.
- Demonstrate linguistic and cultural competency.
- Displace excellent organizational skills, computer proficiency, and strong written, and verbal communication skills.
