Memphis Grizzlies is Hiring an Intern, Business Operations Near Memphis, TN

The Opportunity

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking an Intern to assist the Vice President, External Affairs & Business Operations. The Intern will be responsible for handling a wide range of research related tasks and must be able to work independently. The Intern must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy research, strategy and analysis of public policy and social advocacy issues. The position requires the utmost professionalism and discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential company information and documents.

In This Role You Will

  • Coordinate meetings with external partners and prepare materials for meetings, as needed;
  • Collaborate across all areas of the organization and represent Business Operations in organization meetings as required;
  • Assure the VP is aware of time sensitive matters, potential flashpoints or required actions;
  • Attend and provide appropriate support as needed for home games, meetings/conferences/events;
  • Research relevant policy and social advocacy issues and provide regular updates;
  • Prepare and organize presentation materials, meeting information and communications as required;
  • Proofread documents and presentations, and verify updates;
  • Coordinate and manage the EA agenda in close collaborating with VP, making recommendations and updates as needed;
  • Monitor and track all legislation and public policy issues that pertain to organization;
  • Provide project management support for initiatives that cut across the EA functions, including of governmental relations activities, stakeholder events, and some internal, multi-departmental efforts; 
  • Prepare and coordinate meeting agendas;
  • Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents, preparing background documents as necessary;
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner;
  • Actively promotes and supports the organization’s mission and vision;
  • Support events and conferences, as needed;
  • Complete special projects, and other duties as needed. 

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and/or Public Policy, equivalent work experience, OR Bachelor's Degree in different area of study combined with significant courses in government, policy, legislative/regulatory studies or similar. 
  • One to two years' relevant experience in a related field.
  • One or more year's work, volunteer campaigning, or community organizing in local/state/federal government or policy. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to demonstrate the ability to work with employees at all levels within and outside the organization in a highly professional manner.
  • Detail-oriented professional who is proactive, self-motivated and organized with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Able to research independently, multi-task, and meet deadlines under tight timeframes.
  • Highly organized with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and ability to incorporate an equity lens into the development of internal procedures and external content.
  • Excellent presentation, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information with the highest integrity.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
