The HVAC Technician III will perform preventive maintenance duties for Medxcel throughout the assigned working location of St. John Medical Center - Tulsa,OK. The HVAC Technician III installs, operates and maintains the organization’s heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The HVAC technician III is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC systems and equipment. This position assists associates within and outside of their trade. The HVAC Technician III leads training for new associates and serves as a Subject Matter Expert to facilities stakeholders. The HVAC Technician III also leads larger scale projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

Maintaining HVAC systems:

  • Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems
  • Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation
  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
  • Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations
  • Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition
  • May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Graduate of Trade School OR 3 years of journeyman HVAC Technician

License/Certification: 

  • Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification 
  • Journeyman HVAC Technician License or equivalent certification/license required
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet risk management requirements 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a journeyman HVAC Technician required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in project/construction management required
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
