Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to corporate accounting and internal financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely internal financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, internal financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

• Responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, support the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
• Works closely with the Corporate Controller / Asst. Controller to coordinate daily banking operations and manage the monthly-end close process within scheduled close timelines
• Ensures the general ledger reports revenues / receivables, costs / payables, inter-company transactions, inventory, fixed assets, and accrued expenses in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain general ledger lead schedules and improve general ledger accounting processes, policies and procedures to ensure month-end financials are finalized in a timely manner.
• Process payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees on a bi-weekly basis.
• Maintain and reconcile all payroll related data including allocations and PTO.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.
• Acts as subject matter expert for accounting and related modules in the accounting system and recommends enhancements as needed.
• Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.

Basic Qualifications

• A good attitude and strong work ethic.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of quality accounting experience in a mid-size company or in public accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
• Extensive knowledge of the compilation, analysis, reconciliation and auditing methods used in processing financial and accounting transactions.
• Ability to work autonomously, within prescribed guidelines, and as a team member.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with multiple deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for supervising and developing Staff and Senior Accountants.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, and phones.

This is a largely sedentary role.
