Medical Air Services Association is Hiring a Compliance Director Near Plantation, FL

Description

The Compliance Director will implement and maintain the company’s overall compliance program, including training stakeholders and ensuring the company is following contractual and regulatory compliance standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities 

  • Develops, project manages, and reviews compliance framework, including policies and procedures relating to compliance with specific emphasis on Insurance Operations, Marketing and general corporate compliance both domestically and internationally. 
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulatory requirements, promoting the organization's commitment to compliance.
  • Works with Insurance Operations team to ensure insurance operations build out and maintenance follows state specific insurance requirements, including marketing requirements in print, tv, direct, business, electronic and other marketing formats.
  • Develops and maintains policies and standard operating procedures supporting a corporate compliance and other legal programs.
  • Provides training and manages a compliance program relative to insurance operations, good corporate governance, OFAC, FCPA, conflicts of interest, intellectual property, HIPAA, data protection, cybersecurity, marketing, and other compliance program tenets.
  • Provides guidance to Company management.
  • Monitors operational processes through use of audits, educational opportunities, and corrective action plans.
  • Reports findings and results of compliance activity and provides guidance for Management on matters involving compliance.
  • Ensures proper procedures and documentation of investigatory process, findings, summary, recommendations, and action plan/resolution. Ensures appropriate tracking and reporting of calls or reports to Compliance.
  • Collaborates with executive management in the development of a compliance plan
  • Collaborates with other company team stakeholders to review, provide practical and useful feedback relating to company use of marketing materials
  • Monitor developments/changes in laws and regulations affecting the Company. Communicates and advises management regarding these changes and the need for modification of policies or procedures 
  • Ensures the visibility of the Compliance Office/Program to provide for effective communication of questions or concerns and collaboration on resolution of compliance issues.
  • Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve program effectiveness.
  • Manages outside counsel on technical or niche level legal needs.

Other legal and compliance duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • 3-7 years’ experience in one or more of the following fields: a) as a compliance professional in the field of insurance (A&H, P&C, or Travel) or b) legal operations project manager for insurance or membership companies particularly relating to implementation of processes and operationalization of compliance related policies; marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience managing compliance or other staff members, as needed.
  • Licensed to practice law in Florida (preferred) or any state jurisdiction within the United States with ability to practice in-house in Florida
  • Experience building a corporate compliance program from scratch including drafting, socializing, implementing and maintenance of the program.
  • Common sense approach to real life compliance issues balancing compliance with company operational success.
  • Ability to work well within a small legal team setting, use common sense approach to risk management, and ability to influence business leaders and stakeholders
