Hybrid, Downtown Los Angeles, 2 days/week in-office

Role Overview

We are currently looking for a motivated, proactive, hands-on and energic individual to join the Company’s Accounting team as the Revenue Manager. This role will report to the VP, Financial Accounting & Financial Reporting and will be responsible for full cycle Revenue and Billing-to-Cash functions in a public SOX 404B environment. The Revenue Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of revenue and billing operations and will be a key contributor in the timeliness and accuracy of the month-end close and related internal control process in accordance with ASC 606 and corporate policy. This individual will also be a liaison for the Demand Team, Sales, Legal, Technical Accounting, Tax and IT in reviewing contracts for the appropriate revenue recognition considerations and for financial reporting. The ideal candidate values collaboration and the importance of supporting the team, is an effective communicator, self-starter, has the desire to learn and drive to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end close process as it relates to revenue, cost of sales and accounts receivable. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and other ad-hoc analysis.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in accounting for revenue, deferred revenue, revenue accruals, unbilled receivables, and related cost of sales.
  • Manage and oversee the preparation of invoices, revenue adjustments, revenue imports and be a contributor in investigating and resolving invoice and payment disputes.
  • Review customer contracts and insertion orders to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606.
  • Help maintain the revenue recognition policy for changes in the business, new policies, new product lines, and projects.
  • Enhance and implement scalable best practices in the revenue process.
  • Assist with customer onboarding process. Maintain accurate customer information in both the billing system and the Company’s proprietary Exchange platform.
  • Oversee the credit and collection process for new and existing customers and monitor credit risk/exposure.
  • Ensure integrity of key processes by understanding systems and flow of transactions.
  • Partner with Product and Technology on process improvements, including automation, system implementations and other special projects.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional departments to provide accounting support as needed.
  • Coordinate with Tax in the calculation of state apportionment and filing of state tax returns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • 5-8 years of combined public or corporate accounting experience including relevant experience in a revenue-focused role with the month-end close and related internal control process.
  • CPA or working towards completing a CPA a plus.
  • Proficient revenue knowledge in ASC 606, US GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Self-motivated and able to think independently and creatively to handle a diverse workload and multiple deadlines.
  • Proactively address issues, own the process and outcome, and continuously strive for best-in-class processes and deliverables.
  • Attention to detail, sense of urgency with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work and influence cross-functionally and at all levels of management.
  • Proficient with accounting systems and applications – Sage Intacct a plus.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Big 4 experience or relevant tech industry preferred but not required.
  • Ability to direct and grow team members.
