Overview

Lead the work of Medical Assistants and others in the clinical operation of patient care setting. Perform duties required to assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure that the medical assistant staff adhere to organizational and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Must hold current medical assistant certification or registration.
• Minimum of five (5) years related experience as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant in various specialties to include pediatrics, internal medicine, and family practice.
• At least two (2) years of clinical experience in an outpatient/ambulatory setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
• Excellent phone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Overseas the daily duties of the Medical Assistants and serves as a resource to the Medical Assistant staff and Nurse Managers.
• Assist with scheduling and assigning Medical Assistants and others to ensure appropriate staffing.
• Organize and maintain the inventory program of medical supplies, including notifying manager of needed supplies.
• Notifies Nurse Managers and clinical staff of any changes or updates.
• Remains current with all Vaccine for Children (VFC) rules and regulations.
• Organize, track, and monitor the completion of regulatory logs in the patient care areas.
• Lead the integration of urgent patients into the clinical work of the Medical Assistants by starting protocols and other procedures as necessary.
• Responsible for the integration of urgent walk-in patients into the daily schedule as approved by the medical provider.
• Operate in a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant capacity as needed for overflow in the clinical area.
• Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes.
