MedBridge Development is Hiring a Surgical Tech Near Glendale, CA

Surgical Technician

Hours: 40

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel, the Surgical Technician will help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon's assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments, among other duties.

Qualifications:

  • Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (meaning you have received a booster OR completed your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna within the last 6 months OR completed the first dose of J&J within the last 2 months)
  • Associates degree
  • Ortho Experience
  • Surgical Technology certification from accredited school or training program
  • 2 years’ experience in a hospital or outpatient operation room
  • Pain management experience
  • First aid and CPR certification
  • Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique

  • Reactive: Provide accurate and timely assistance to match the urgency and necessity of the situation.

  • Steadiness: Able to keep your hand and arm steady when needed.

Job Responsibilities: Duties will consist of, but not be limited to:

  • Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical intervention
  • Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in OR
  • Perform instrument counts prior and after to each procedure
  • Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment
  • Position and re-position patient during surgery
  • Help monitor patients during surgery
  • Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase
  • Perform scrub functions
  • Collect and label specimens taken during surgical procedure
  • Follow all federal, state and departmental safety procedures
  • Maintain a proper sterile field during surgical procedures
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation
  • Scrub arms and hands and assist the surgical team to scrub and put on gloves, masks, and surgical clothing
  • Provide technical assistance to surgeons, surgical nurses, or anesthesiologists
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure
  • Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors and cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation
  • Prepare, care for, and dispose of tissue specimens taken for laboratory analysis
  • Wash and sterilize equipment, using germicides and sterilizers
  • Monitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs
  • Operate, assemble, adjust, or monitor sterilizers, lights, suction machines, or diagnostic equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Disinfect all the equipment and tools used after the surgery
  • Clean the operating room after the procedure
