Requirements

Function & Responsibility

Performs engineering design for sales orders, new product design, and ECRs (engineering change requests) of a complex nature.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs and executes layouts of complex products and equipment. The complexity of assignments requires considerable initiative, latitude, and independent judgment.
  • Performs original design work after receiving the design goal or problem, the general method of processing, and engineering advice.
  • Performs routine engineering solutions for design problems that require simple stress analysis, the strength of materials, interchangeability, manufacturing methods, and cost reduction.
  • May provide work leadership to lower-level designers and drafters and coordinate assignments.
  • May check completed drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Uses computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
  • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  •  Works with management and production staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM
  • Ability to design workflows and procedures.

  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
  • Project a professional attitude and aptitude.
  •  Strong listening skills and information gathering skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English.
  •  Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully and develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem-solving situations and uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  •  Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the customer base and their needs.
  •  The ability to interact with all levels of management both internally and within the customer/vendor base.
  •  Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including word processing, spreadsheet software applications, and presentation software.
  •  Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
  •  Ability to plan, organize and work successfully on simultaneous projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of work experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
