Function & Responsibility

Performs a variety of duties in receiving, issuing, handling, and accounting for inventory stock. Performs moderately complex inventory and entry level accounting /clerical work to provide data collecting, recording and documenting support. Performs paper and computer research, accuracy verification, tabulating and calculating of arithmetical data, data entry and related tasks. Primarily responsible for both receiving goods into stock and issuing work order kits to the production floor.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conducts inventory of stock, and reviews inventory control records and reports.
• Issues materials, manually pre-picks stock items from multi-level racking which are specified in Work Order documents and completes all necessary paperwork for stock items issued
• Receives delivered materials; confirms that delivered goods match purchase order specifications of quantity, condition, model number, etc.; completes all necessary paperwork for stock items received.
• Receives returned material stock items; inspects, determines suitability of material for restocking.
• Utilizes computer software to properly account for issues, returns, receipts of new materials and associated back orders; inputs essential data on all materials handled; adheres to strict accounting procedures in this regard.
• Conducts weekly cycle counts of inventory materials based upon computer-monitored suggested re-order listing; assists in conducting complete physical inventory count as needed.
• Organizes and maintains warehouse and inventory yard areas for efficient material storage and handling; maintains labeling system on each stock item; manually stocks inventory shelving with stock items received or returned.
• Prepares and posts complex accounting transactions to manual and computer-based systems, (GEAC for Department, USAS for Comptroller) and maintains files of applicable source documents pending verification of entries or closure of transactions and libraries of more complete documentation.
• Disposes of surplus inventory, and ensures proper documentation and policies are followed.
• Maintains accounting records or purchases, assigns inventory numbers to items, and maintains inventory and stock control records.
• Reconciles various reports/statements/tabulations with their applicable source documents by identifying individual discrepancies and researching data sources to rectify errors, enter omissions or make judgments.
