Overview

Responsibilities

  • Perform product testing on samples and returned product as required. Tests may include dimensional inspections, pressure tests, micrograph analysis, hardness testing and/or any special tests required to qualify new product or certify returned product.
  • Process returned product to include maintaining data and reports for all manufacturing locations and vendors.
  • Perform quality ISO audits.
  • Review yard scrap to include maintaining data and reports.
  • Work with plant management in developing and maintaining statistical process charts that will monitor plant processes.
  • Work with plant management in developing and maintaining “job cards” for each product that is cast in the production departments.
  • Perform quality training to hourly personnel within the production departments.
  • Approve outside vendor samples, machined product, and in process inspections. Issue quality alerts and corrective actions to vendors and follow up through closure.
  • Review opportunities for continuous improvement and work closely with the production departments to incorporate a focus on “quality at the source”.
  • Inspect all plant processes and product lines for conformance to published internal and external specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent amount of education and experience.
  • Related experience and experience.
  • Computer skills – Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus.
  • Knowledge of measuring tools and equipment. Working knowledge of Faro Arm, a plus.
  • Understanding of casting defects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Activities:

    • Knowledge required to perform this job include production and processing and mathematics. Ability to work with MS Excel, Access, and Word.
    • Skills required to perform this job include quality control analysis, active listening, critical thinking, monitoring, reading comprehension, speaking, coordination, judgment and decision making, and operation monitoring.

    • The physical requirements required to perform this job include moderate lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds; overhead or above shoulder reaching; bending at the waist occasionally; pushing/pulling a maximum of 50 pounds un-wheeled; twisting torso at the waist; use of fingers and both hands; ability to grasp medium with right/left hands; ability to flex/extend right/left hands; ability to do repetitive work with hands; ability to exert medium arm/hand force with right/left hands; ability to wear gloves on right/left hands; ability to use tools with right/left hands; ability to write; maximum standing of one hour per day; maximum sitting of five hours per day; maximum walking of two hours per day; kneeling; squatting; climbing using arms and legs; moving neck forward/back and turning right/left; ability to work in a wide temperature range; ability to work in high humidity; ability to work inside/outside; ability to work with solvents or chemicals, such as casting coating and fuels; and the ability to work around moving machinery.
    • As necessary, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
