McKendree Village located on a beautiful 40-acre campus offers all levels of care: IL, AL, SNF, LTC. This campus offers care for 300 residents and patients who rely on us for life enrichment and quality of care.

We are currently seeking a Kitchen Steward to join our team! With an exceptional reputation, the Assisted Living campus boasts an excellent regulatory track record and employee satisfaction for 60 years.

Your Role in the Company

Washes pots, pans, dishes, silverware, utensils, etc. according to standard practice. All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write
• Must be able to follow simple oral or written directions
• Must be able to stoop, stand, walk short distances most of the working day
• Must be able to reach, lift, carry, and stack up to 60 lbs.
• Must be able to pull and push a minimum of 100 lbs. (food carts, trash, supplies)
• Must be cautious while working with kitchen equipment to avoid cuts and burns
• Must be cautious while working on wet and slippery floors to avoid falls
• Must be able to withstand heat and changes in temperature when going in and out of refrigerated or deep freeze areas.

Other Responsibilities

Attends and participates in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs, workshops, seminars, etc.

Working Conditions

• Works in well-lighted/ventilated areas
• Sits, stands, bends, and moves intermittently during working hours
• Is subject to interruptions
• Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc., under all conditions/circumstances and may be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
• Works closely with nursing personnel and other department supervisors
• May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary and in temporary positions.
• May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, infectious diseases, substances/chemicals, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
• Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
