Global Business Services adds value to the McDonald’s system by providing best-in-class services and solutions that support our business effectively and efficiently in the areas of cost, time, quality, and compliance. The McDonald’s Payroll Tax Department provides services associated with payroll taxes and equity compensation (hire to retire services) to over 85,000 active employees located in both the US and Canada.

The Payroll Tax & Equity Manager is responsible for providing direction to the US and Canada payroll tax teams with 1-2 direct reports and 5-10 indirect reports. This leader will also play a key role in leading the day-to-day operation of the North American Payroll Tax & Equity Department at large. Key customers include: US and Canada McOpCo Operations and HR, Home Office & Regional HR, Global Labor and Employment Law, Global Total Rewards, Corporate Tax and Regional Administrative Managers.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Build and develop a high performing team with a focus on an exceptional customer experience and quality results
• Coach team on change management, teaching them to manage through ambiguity and develop proactive thinking
• Build effective internal partnerships and actively promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure business goals are achieved
• Work closely with cross-functional partners to design, develop and implement new processes and enhancements needed to deliver superior execution
• Develop and implement continuous improvement recommendations to achieve cost and processing efficiencies as well as improve employee experience
• Contribute to improving customer support by actively responding to queries and handling escalations
• Benchmark with external sources to contribute new ideas and best practices
• Work cohesively with peers to manage the day-to-day operations

Basic Qualifications

• Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA and/or MBA preferred
• Experience leading/managing a team, including developing, tracking, & reporting metrics and SLAs
• Ability to sort through large sets of data

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with payroll tax laws, W-2 & T-4’s distribution, and/or Equity compensation
• Experience with Oracle HCM Cloud and ServiceNow
• Proven ability to operate and manage in an ambiguous environment
• Exceptional detail orientation with a high degree of accuracy
• Experience overseeing multiple end-to-end processes simultaneously
• Ability to understand financial impact of data and to ensure transparency
• Experience with working with 3rd party payroll tax suppliers
