McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of Chehalis, WA, that has been in business since 1988. MRD operates in commercial quarries, timberlands and construction sites throughout the Western US. 

MRD is seeking a full-time Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to operate out of our main office located in Chehalis, Washington. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a diesel mechanic to learn and develop skills necessary to repair and maintain pickups, rock drills, excavators, skid steers, lowboy trucks and much more! Candidates must be willing to travel during the day with the possibility of overnight stay, must have a clean driving record, and will be expected to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening test. 

Minimum responsibilities include: 

• Follows all MRD safety policies and procedures
• Owns hand tools related to diesel repair and maintenance 
• Be paired with a senior mechanic to learn and further develop skills
• Familiarity with truck maintenance and standard concepts 
• Ability to follow instructions given to you by supervisor 
• Perform basic repairs under the guidance of a mechanic 
• Perform routine maintenance tasks; tasks like oil/tire changes 
• Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering parts 

Minimum skills and qualifications include: 

• Must have reliable transportation to the base shop
• Able to pass criminal background check, MVR, and drug test 
• Valid driver's license with a CLEAN record (no more than 3 minor violations in the last 3 years)
• Be able to easily lift 50 lbs 
• Willing to work all days and hours required (weekends, nights, etc.)
• Must provide own tools 
• Ability to travel out of town for work when necessary (travel will be in a company vehicle)
• Reliable and a solid team player
