Job Description

Overview

As an employee/owner at MEC, the Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative duties to assist the management team.  This position will also perform receptionist duties that include directing callers to the proper departments, paging for incoming calls, assisting customers, vendors, and visitors and directing them to their contact person.  This position will serve as MEC’s initial first face to the customer.  The Administrative Assistant will provide some administrative support to the HR team.

Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

 

  • Complie and prepare regular and special reports.

 

  • Administer programs, projects, and/or processes specific to the Hazel Park facility.

 

  • Performs various administrative duties.

 

  • Supplies information to callers and records messages, or transfers calls to the proper extension or voicemail.

 

  • Uses paging system to locate employees for incoming phone calls.

 

  • Receives and greets visitors, obtains name and nature of business, and directs them to the proper party.

 

  • Provides administrative support to the HR department.

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school is preferred.  1-3 years’ experience of successful administrative experience, skilled at multi-tasking, strong attention to detail, upbeat and positive personality, excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, proven success in communicating at all levels of the organization, and proficient with Microsoft Office.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiplies and divides all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office; in particular Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word.
