SUMMARY OFPOSITION: With guidance from the Manufacturing manager, this position is responsible for the overalldirection of designated manufacturing areas. Plan operations, assist in theestablishment of priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, byutilizing knowledge of production methods and processes, machine and equipmentcapabilities and human resources requirements to coordinate activities thatwill meet or exceed customer requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fosters a safety culture within the Departmentby enforcing compliance with established guidelines related to Health, Safety,and PPE. Plan and formulate production requirements basedon the production schedule to conform with releases and inventory requirementsin accordance with shipping commitments. Confer with the Production Planner to establishpriorities to conform to the lead-time necessary to ensure delivery dateintegrity. Interface with internalregarding manufacturing status, to include schedules and problem areas. Anticipate potential problems, schedule orpriority delays and participate in the development of alternative plans. Ensure that work area is properly staffed basedon production schedule and that each associate understands set requirements, topromote safety, quality, and cost Participate in related staff, team and/or taskgroup meetings to ensure the continuous improvement of processes, methods,productivity and quality, while reducing costs. Participate in in-house trainingprograms, including safety and orientation program Investigate mechanical issues and notifymaintenance of any problem areas. Interprets company policies to workers andenforces safety regulations. Conductsaccident investigations Responsible for associate retention byparticipating in an associate relations program that includes communication;training; planning, assigning, and directing work; participation ininterviewing; assessing talent; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Initiate corrective action wherenecessary. All responsibilities will becompleted in accordance with Maysteel policies and applicable law. Maintain the established budget and capitalimprovement plan with the responsibility of making recommendations to improveefficiency and effectiveness Prepare, present and maintain reports/recordsnecessary to carry out the functions of the work area, as required ornecessary. Perform the typing/wordprocessing of letters, interoffice correspondence and various reports Contribute to an environment in which allassociates are respected regardless of their individual differences and aremotivated to improve their individual and work area contributions to achievedesired business results. Participate in related staff, team and/or taskgroup meetings to ensure the continuous improvement of processes, methods,productivity and quality, while reducing costs. Participate in in-housetraining programs, including safety and orientation programs. Maintain current knowledge for this position andwithin the work area through continuing education, subscriptions,certifications and memberships. Conduct a continuous study of internal processesand methods, research new technology and develop proposals for application ofsuch technology for the purposes of cost reduction and process improvement. Maintains and monitors labor, attendance andproduction records. Participates in weekend Supervision rotation. Other duties as assigned or required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree (A.A.) ore equivalent from two-yearcollege or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/ortraining; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SCOPE: Directly supervises employees in one operational departmentconsisting of an unskilled production labor workforce. Carries out supervisory responsibilities inaccordance with the organizations’ policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work,appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressingcomplaints and resolving problems. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull,grip, and grasp up to 50 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate tohigh. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Will work under closely with Facility Operators, Material buyers, and the Operations Management team to perform duties related to production.
